Duff McKagan Joins Jane’s Addiction

Ex-Guns N’ Roses/current Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan has apparently joined the reunited Jane’s addiction after original bassist Eric Avery quit once again several months ago. The news comes via Twitter, of course, from Jane’s guitarist Dave Navarro. The nipple ring king tweeted the below picture of the band practicing with Duff. The move comes the band reunited for a tour in fall of 2008, and another co-headlining with Nine Inch Nails last spring. This was the first time all four members, Navarro, Avery, singer Perry Farrell, and drummer Stephen Perkins has played together since 1991. When the band reunited in 1997 and 2001, Avery opted out. He didn’t even join the band to record their 2003 album Strays, which featured Chris Channing on bass. Avery quit when the band recently jumped back into the recording studio to record yet another album. While most fans were drooling at the prospect of all four members writing together again, it was not meant to be. Avery told the world, via Twitter (always), that he wasn’t writing with the band. There are more pics of the band with Duff over at http://janesaddiction.org. How cool is that recording space? Stay tuned for more info on the album as it becomes available. Do you think the new material will hold water? Here’s to hoping…
