See Tour DatesStuff We Like: Beck's Record Club
We've been hearing a lot of buzz about Beck's new project called Record Club, "an informal meeting of various people to record an album in a day."
Apparently we aren't the only ones with a love for musical reinterpretations! We're more than thrilled to hear Beck's take on classic albums, but trying to guess which ones has had us stumped. Some Stones...maybe some Dylan? Check out the website today to listen to the first song, "Sunday Morning” from The Velvet Underground & Nico. Collaborators on the Record Club project include Nigel Godrich (who has worked with Radiohead and Paul McCartney, to name a few) as well as Joey Waronker (session drummer for Smashing Pumpkins, Elliot Smith, etc). The list goes on to include producers and musicians with equally impressive resumes: Brian Lebarton, Bram Inscore, Yo, Giovanni Ribisi, Chris Holmes, and from Iceland, special guest Thorunn Magnusdottir.“An album will be chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track will be uploaded once a week on beck.com as well as through the web sites of those involved with the project.”
